Orthodontic Appliances

Vita Dental Laboratory’s Orthodontic Appliances service combines precision engineering, advanced materials, and digital workflows to support a full spectrum of orthodontic treatments. From removable retainers to fixed functional appliances and custom aligner planning, our solutions ensure optimal fit, patient comfort, and predictable clinical outcomes.

1. Clear Retainers (Essix)

Fabricated from biocompatible PETG or polypropylene sheets, our Essix retainers offer a nearly invisible solution for post‐orthodontic retention. Vacuum-formed over master models, they maintain tooth position with minimal bulk and are easily replaced if lost or worn. Color-tinting options and custom engraving are available for practice branding.

2. Hawley & Begg Retainers

The time-tested Hawley design features a labial bow of stainless steel wire and acrylic base, providing adjustable retention and arch control. Begg-style retainers employ a wraparound labial wire for enhanced anchorage and reduced acrylic coverage. Both types allow chairside wire adjustments and minor rebasing, extending appliance longevity.

3. Twin Block Functional Appliances

Our Twin Block devices are precision-fabricated from high-impact acrylic with interlocking bite-blocks that posture the mandible forward, stimulating mandibular growth in growing patients. Each appliance is customized to the patient’s anatomy via digital design or functional plaster bite registration, ensuring optimal joint comfort and treatment efficacy.

4. Palatal Expanders (Hyrax & RME)

To correct transverse deficiencies, we produce both Hyrax screw and rapid maxillary expansion (RME) appliances:

Expander Types:

  • Hyrax Expanders: Cast stainless steel frame with a jackscrew at the midline, offering 0.25 mm turn increments for controlled expansion.

  • RME Appliances: Designed for rapid orthopedic response, delivering 0.5 mm to 1 mm daily across two quarter-turns.

Frameworks are soldered or laser-welded on molar bands or bonded pads per clinician preference.

5. Lingual Fixed Retainers

Our bonded lingual retainers use multi-strand stainless steel or fiber-reinforced composites, contoured to the lingual surfaces of anterior teeth. Laboratory-prefabricated to exact measurements, they ensure passive fit, minimize occlusal interferences, and preserve alignment with minimal chairside finishing.

6. Space Maintainers

For early loss of primary teeth, we fabricate unilateral and bilateral space maintainers:

Maintainer Designs:

  • Band-and-Loop: Simple design for single-tooth replacement.

  • Distal Shoe: Guides unerupted molars into correct position.

  • LLHA & Nance Appliance: Maintain arch length in mixed dentition.

All frameworks are crafted from medical-grade stainless steel with acrylic pads as needed.

7. Aligner Design Services (STL-Based)

Upload your patient’s STL scan files to our secure portal and our technicians will generate staged aligner models via industry-leading software. We provide tooth movement proposals, attachments, and interproximal reduction maps for every aligner step, accelerating case planning and reducing manual setup time.

8. Digital Workflow Integration

Compatible with all major intraoral scanners, our CAD/CAM process merges PLY/STL data into appliance designs. Virtual articulator analysis verifies occlusal clearances, while 3D-printed prototypes enable chairside try-ins before final fabrication.

9. Material Science & Customization

All orthodontic appliances utilize CE-marked, ISO-certified materials:

Material Options:

  • Acrylics: High-impact, color-stable PMMA for functional appliances.

  • Wires: Nickel-titanium for flexibility, stainless steel for rigidity.

  • Polymers: PETG, polypropylene, or FDA-approved sleep-appliance resins.

Choose from clear, tinted, or custom-printed acrylics and wire gauges to tailor fit and esthetics.

10. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

Each appliance undergoes:

Inspection Protocols:

  • Fit Verification on printed models for optimal adaptation.

  • Dimensional Analysis to ensure tolerance within ±0.1 mm.

  • Material Integrity Testing for biocompatibility and mechanical performance.

Our ISO 13485–certified lab adheres to strict CE-mark requirements and annual external audits.

11. Clinical Support & Continuing Education

Our orthodontic specialists offer case consultations, digital planning reviews, and troubleshooting via secure video calls. Access our quarterly webinars on advanced expansion protocols, functional appliance fine-tuning, and aligner sequencing in the Continuing Education Portal.
